What does School Wise Press stand for?

We are here to help school district leaders succeed by discovering, understanding and sharing their schools’ and districts’ vital signs.

Three principles–related to measurement, insight and communication–guide our work.

Measuring what matters requires both more skill at measurement itself, as well as better judgment interpreting what those measures mean. This is as true of attendance as it is of assessment. It is as significant for evaluation as it is for planning.

School Wise Press’s K12 Measures Project believes that education leaders are fully capable of applying more scientific measurement methods and more sound reasoning to planning and managing the education of students. But few have enjoyed either pre-service or in-service opportunities to learn these methods.

We’re ready to provide those opportunities now.

In addition, education leaders have lacked analytic instruments suitable for turning raw data into polished evidence that’s ready for inquiry. Yet school districts are awash in technology for storing and retrieving data for reports. These are not the kind of instruments required for solving problems, discovering insights, and learning where your school or district stands. We are here to provide those analytic instruments, and the support needed to put them to work.
